Its a hot Thursday night in Manchester. Stonefield, four sisters from a farmstead in Darrweit Guim, a small town located outside of Melbourne, Australia are here to share their music with us Mancunians – a taste of sci-fi, psych rock n roll.
Delusion from new album Far From Earth is riff heavy stoner rock with strong vocals from singing drummer, Amy Findlay. Far From Earth is the bands third album and the self titled song follows – guitar driven with dream strewn lyrics and great harmonies. This is not a jam band, though, the songs are three and four minutes long. Black Water Rising “Breathe the rhythm of the cool wind breeze…” is from a 2012 single release Bad Reality EP.
Dream, Changes and Love follow from their second album, As Above, So Below. Love with its keyboard intro and guitar hook pulls you in with Amy’s smokey vocal. In the Eve is the star track off the new album Far From Earth – its a blues, soul bottle of sin. Sister is loud as hell, all pumped up neck muscle vocal and a car crash middle eight. Eyes like the previous song are from As Above, So Below released in 2017 – riff heavy Sabbath, Doors/Ray Manzarek keyboard and a mother fucking vocal.
Stonefield wear their musical influences well but are taking their sound and new songs to whole new level.
