After a bit of a hiatus, Saint Raymond was back in full swing with a massive Cheshire cat grin on his face as he headlined a completely sold out Borderline in Central London. Taking some time out after the release of his debut album ‘Young Blood’ back in 2015, it was time for his big live comeback and with that a three date UK tour stopping off in his hometown Nottingham, Manchester and, his home away from home, London that all sold out in a matter of minutes.
If you were a 17 year old indie kid that watched videos of singer-songwriters religiously on Youtube then you obviously know who Saint Raymond is and how he turned his ‘guy with a guitar’ vibe into a huge indie pop banger sound that has stolen the hearts of us all.
With his band in tow he kicked off the night with ‘We are Fire’ from his most recent EP ‘A Light That Blinds’ which dropped at the end of last year, his first proper release since 2015. Taking it back to the good old days we were treated to tracks like ‘Everything She Wants’ and ‘Come Back To You’ which the crowd sang so loudly you nearly couldn’t hear Saint Raymond himself.
Confessing to the absolutely rammed room at The Borderline that he was more than thankful for people actually coming to the shows on his first tour back after he had been away from the spotlight for a while. He also mentioned that he was even more thankful for people turning up to the London show as he knew full well it was the first night of the TV series Love Island coming back to everyone’s screens ready for a Summer of hibernating inside.
In time with his big comeback playing three shows round the UK, he is also dropping three brand spanking new singles. He has proven that great things come in 3s. Two of the singles ‘Dancing’ and ‘Carried Away’ have already been released with the third to be released very soon. All released via Never Fade Records, home to Gabrielle Aplin and Hannah Grace.
Stepping away from his band to strip it back for ‘Movie In My Mind’ and his personal favourite to play live, ‘As We Are Now’, he left the crowd in awe with them hanging on to his every word. Finally finishing with an absolute golden oldie ‘Bonfires’, the crowd jumped and sung like never before. A massive high to end the final night of his UK tour on.
