Amon Amarth (+Arch Enemy and Hypocrisy) – 29 November, 2019 @ O2 Apollo, Manchester

If you are hungry for a strong push of Swedish metal then we hope you didn’t miss Amon Amarth’s gig in Manchester. Legend has it that the band’s music and energy can burn down all negativity in people’s lives.

The event began with death metal band Hypocrisy warming up the audience with devilish growls and captivating and atmospheric sound. Multi instrumentalist Peter Tagtgren never ceased to amaze fans of heavy music. The band cemented their status of untouchable legends who are always producing quality work. The well-know song “Eraser” caused a storm in the audience and a forest of horns.

And then it was time for Arch Enemy to take the stage and, oh boy, did they deliver! Beautiful melody, drive and insane vocals of Alissa are capable of creating a power that will both destroy you and make you invincible at the same time. The balance of melody, riffs, brutality and motivating lyrics lift you up and take no prisoners. Those who didn’t know the band were standing with open mouths and by the end of the last song were jumping and dancing.

After such powerful explosive warm up the might vikings finally came on stage. The who audience started shouting. Flames, viking boat with horns on the background, unapologetic guitar riffs, stunning visuals – all burning, exploding, exciting to the core! It felt like Odin came on Earth blessing everyone with his strength. The Swedish vikings smashed the hammer and sparks and flames flew everywhere. What can be more entertaining than that?! Even dragons were part of the show. There are simply no limits to the power of Amon Amarth. We hope to see them in the UK any time in the future as we’ll always be hungry got a good shake up from Scandinavian gods!
