Some people’s new years resolutions are to quit smoking or cut down on the wine intake but Adam French’s was to play a sold out headline show at Omeara before the year was up. Well, you guessed it, he did exactly that. Playing his biggest headline to date, you could feel in the room that this was a momentous occasion not just for Adam but also for the crowd who had come to see him.
Joined on stage by his band, he took us all into an absolute daze with his note perfect Ben Howard-esque vocals, sending chills through the entire room.
Playing songs from his most recent EP, ‘Weightless’, which was released last year and his most recent single, a cover of Millencolin’s ‘No Cigar’, you could tell that this headline at Omeara was just the start of something so much bigger.
Even though Adam’s most recent releases are incredible, the O.G. fans at the front wanted the older songs, the 2014 era of Adam French. ‘’Does anybody know any of my old shit?’’ he declares mid set. A massive roar from the crowd turns into a huge singalong when he drops ‘Ivory’ from his debut EP ‘More to Life’.
Finishing on his most popular release, ‘’Weightless’’, the crowd clearly didn’t want him to ever leave the stage – you know you’ve seen something special when your only criticism is that you wanted more songs. Luckily though, we were all blessed with an encore, even though that wasn’t Adam’s intention. ‘’I didn’t want to come back on, encores are the cringiest things ever’’ he tell us. Well, we’re not complaining.
Make sure to catch Adam play at Bushstock Festival in London this June.
