An enforced line-up change may have paid dividends for Dublin 4-piece ‘Tandem Felix’. With new members comes a new sound and the sound emanating from the forthcoming ‘Comma’ EP is certainly one that should not be ignored.
The EP (released on the 27th April via Trout Records) is more sunshine bathed west-coast USA than wet and cold Dublin and these 5 tender tracks clearly showcase a band on the cusp of something big. Comparisons to Wilco and Kurt Vile would seem to be fair but these guys and gal do it with an Irish swagger all of their own making. Each track seems effortless and uncomplicated.

The EP introduces smooth melodies (Waiting in the Wings) and quite stunning instrumentation (Mandarin), the latter of which is possibly one of the most beautiful tracks I’ve heard in 2015. Add to this the laid back nature of opening track ‘Nothing I Do Will Ever Be Good Enough’, which should be listened to horizontally, and you have the makings of a very nice release indeed. Prepare to be impressed
