‘Spring King’ return with a new EP ‘They’re Coming after You’ this week, and we’re treated to chorus’s the size of houses, more fuzzy guitars than a double helping of but most importantly a few really catchy tunes.
Following 2014’s acclaimed ‘Demons’ EP this new material has a more approachable feel to it than that of its predecessor. The Supergrass and Fratellis swagger to the content should be applauded rather than dismissed as we’re entertained with the type of music that sits firmly between both ears for hours after its conclusion. This is good wholesome indie from an area of the UK (Manchester) that knows a thing or two about the subject matter.
Already championed by the likes of 6Music, ‘City’, (the first track from the EP) seems to have launched these talented Mancunians from local pub band to play-list favourites. However, it should be said that the EP impresses through-out and rarely leaves one looking for the skip button.
The ‘Spring King’ momentum would appear to be gathering pace. ‘They’re Coming after You EP’ is out now, via Handsome Dad Records.
