‘The Kite String Tangle’, the solo project of Brisbane based electronic producer and artist Danny Harley, has finally followed up last years hit ‘Given the Chance’. The ‘Vessel’ EP is set for an August 11th 2014 release and not only contains the previously mentioned track but also the recently showcased ‘Arcadia’.
2014 was always set to be a HUGE year for Harley and thankfully he delivers with this new release. ‘Arcadia’ is without doubt the stand-out track from this 6 track EP. It’s effortless vocals, catchy chorus and simple production offer enough to ensure this chilled-out track will go on to better anything ‘Given the Chance’ achieved. It’s a glorious track that jumps to the top of the electro-pop genre pile, which is no mean feet considering the wealth of talent out there producing similar material (James Blake, James Vincent McMorrow).

‘Stone Cold’ picks up the tempo and shows that Harley can mix things up a little. The track retains the atmospheric qualities of the rest of the EP but also integrates stunning vocals from Tiana Khasi. But it’s ‘What’s the Point’ that is the most adventurous track here. It has a glorious 80’s-synth feel whose quiet verses are suddenly replaced with booming bass and a cleverly played-out keyboard sequence. It’s a track that highlights the astonishing breadth of Mr Harley’s song-writing and production skills.
‘Words’ is the only disappointing offering here. It doesn’t seem to have same punch as the reminder of the EP, but in truth that could simply be down to the strength of its EP bedfellows.
The track-listing for the ‘Vessel’ EP is as follows…
2. What If
3. Stone Cold
