EP REVIEW : DíSA – ‘Sculpture’ EP

Out this week is the impressive debut EP from Icelandic singer-songwriter DíSA. The 5 track ‘Sculpture’ EP is a clever mix of electronica and dark pop that highlights an artist very much on the up and up.

Title track ‘Sculpture’ certainly stands out; containing angelic vocals, thrashing guitars towards its climax and the sort of base that is guaranteed to rattle floor boards. It’s a dramatic and passionate track to begin ones musical CV with.

It’s hard to find fault with any of the music on offer here. ‘Marry You’ is a beautiful stirring melody while ‘No Stopping This’ is a quick paced pop-purists dream. Across the release you’re never given a reason to hit the stop button or forward to the next track. It’s a clever mix of genres that nevertheless culminate to produce an EP that is at no point disjointed.

‘Sculpture’ is out now on Tigerspring.
