Terminé ‘Sideways’ – EP REVIEW

This Terminé article was written by GIGSoup Contributor Kelly Crichton. Edited by Fraisia Dunn.

Hotly tipped duo Terminé have released their debut 5-track EP’ Sideways’ on Finnish label Youth Control. DJ/producer, Anton Sonin and singer/songwriter, Ben Andreas have created what seems like effortless indie-pop.

Lead track ‘Sideways’ is a relaxed, melodic affair but the remix is where the money lies. The vocal is put to a wonderfully classic synth-heavy disco track which could see this Roisto remix making a prominent appearance on turntables across Europe before long.

‘Turn off the Lights’ continues Terminé’s brand of airy indie meets dance music while ‘Satellite’ completes the record as an easygoing chillout track.

The band have described their music as “new-wave indie-rock meets the infamous Panorama Bar at Berghain…influenced by the moody and epic atmosphere of french indie music, combined with 4/4 beats of kinda early-morning after-hours somewhere in East Berlin”. Fully appreciating this explanation would require having experienced the Panorama Bar, needless to say, it’s one of the most famous bars in Berlin if not the world, and a location where some of the best electronica in the world is played. Hopefully Terminé will continue to live up to their own hype.

‘Sideways’ is out now on Youth Control.
