Venice May the Paris based Rock duo teamed up to release a new full length album titled ‘Illusion is Inevitable.’ The music on the album is truly unique and is difficult to fit into a genre. With chilling vocals from Natalia Samofalova and Vincent Bedford on the lead guitar. The way the vocals combine with the sounds on the guitar are impressive. Perhaps most noteworthy is that the unique sound of the album is that none of it was created using synths, all soundscapes were produced by the sounds of the guitar. Also important is that the duo wrote and produced the songs of the album.
While the music is unique, when you listen to Venice May it is difficult not to draw comparisons The Smashing Pumpkins, or A Perfect Circle. This Alternative rock duo provide of enchanting then beautiful vocals, and dynamic guitar. First highlight of the album is the first track. With a strong start Venice May begins with ‘A Mouse and a Snake’ that hooks you in. The track introduces you to the voice of Natalia that is truly special. Almost brilliantly the song displays the confidence of Venice May through brilliant melodies.
Consequently when you talk about the bands music, you have to mention them as artists. The confidence you hear in the opening tracks seems to be from their boldness in knowing who they are. Venice May is a duo that is dynamic that has a vision that you feel as you listen to ‘Illusions Is Inevitable’. The album art and their music video for ‘Hiding Place’ are more examples of this creativity.
Throughout the album there isn’t a track that should be skipped. Some of the middle tracks are a bit slower to develop but once they do are worth the wait. The thing about Venice May is that everything is staggered and coupled with either excellence on guitar, or vocals you wont hear many place else. Venice May is a duo you should follow. ‘Illusion Is Inevitable’ is an announcement to the Alternative Rock world that something new and unique has arrived.
