‘Chloe’ is the latest release from Jonny Ong, a folk-rock artist hailing from Singapore with a penchant for the weird and the wonderful.
Taking a simple tale of betrayal and twisting it into something dreamlike and vicious, Ong’s talents at arranging and song writing in general have never been more apparent. ‘Chloe’ is a song which combines East and West musical elements; jazz folk and rock all come together to create a truly beguiling and transcendental sound – and a thoroughly interesting one to use in order to speak about the betrayal of a friend, Chloe.
The spite and pain in the lyrics contrasts and interplays with the serene and tranquil psychedelic haze of the instrumentation. The result is compelling, outstanding music, and Ong is an artist to watch.
