Jake Winstrom is a singer-songwriter you won’t mistake for anyone else. His sweet, sandpapery tenor has stymied rock club sound engineers for more than a decade. But with the release of his second solo album, Circles, the Tennessee-tunesmith-turned-Brooklynite has finally put out a collection of songs as unique and inviting as his voice.
First single “Come To Texas She Said” will have you tapping your toes before Jake’s vocals even kick in. It’s got a driving beat that instantly brings ZZ Top to mind (Fun Fact: Winstrom’s old band, Tenderhooks, once opened for ZZ Top at the famous Beacon Theater in New York City). The story of the tune revolves around a love interest compelling our hero to move to Texas for her. But after all of her attempts, he’s ‘not leaving New York City for nothin!’
Circles releases the 25th of September.
