Hailing from Colorado, SHANE? was infatuated by the tribal drums, modulated vocals, and feeling of confidence in Kanye West’s “Amazing” at age 9. This one song shifted his career paradigm and he has since strived to sonically recreate that same spark for others – the result is “Supernova”.
The introspective track’s melodic keys paired with hazy vocals are used playfully with a sharp digitalised beat to hook you into the song immediately. These elements along with the interstellar productions create a futuristic feel and an energetic, spacey soundscape (even Siri making an appearance).
Lyrically the track cleverly talks about life, relationships, and mistakes comparing them to aspects of the universe and the unknown. “This song came together very naturally and was really fun to make. The producer John Vinci of ‘TooLoudSorry’ sent me a beat pack and I immediately knew of a hook I could pull out the depths of my notes for it.” SHANE? explained, “Once that was locked in everything kinda wrote itself and I’m really happy with how it turned out, just a cool song to throw on. I have a whole space themed EP in the works so be on the lookout for that.”
SHANE? has always been inspired by artists including Kanye, Kid Cudi, Pharrell, Mike Dean, and Rick Rubin. He has a particular interest in artists who transcend genres and his new track is making a statement that he is ready to make his mark with deep content delivered with energy.
