Everyone Is Dirty is a band, hailing from Oakland, California, that defies easy descriptors. Nobody puts Everyone Is Dirty in a corner. “Paper Cutout” starts out like a lovely little orchestral number. Sivan Lioncub’s vocals (and dance moves) are just enough to lull one into a false sense of security. Right when that happens, the guitars kick in and it becomes an over-the-top psychedelic rocker.
“Paper Cutout” is the first single off the band’s upcoming record, eine kleine jukebox baby, a collection of songs that started out as a tribute to Sivan’s grandfather. As we took a turn into 2020, the album began to take on the current state of affairs, so it feels more like a WW3 prophesy, exploring blissful dream-states sandwiched between abstract scenes of violence & political unrest.
