Annabel Jones shares her poignant joy around the release of ‘Davy Jones, It’s Christmas Once More’

Annabel Jones is a singer, entrepreneur and daughter of the iconic Davy Jones.

We are delighted to bring you this exclusive conversation with her to celebrate the posthumous release of ‘Davy Jones, It’s Christmas Time Once More’.

The project was inspired by a 1967 demo of “White Christmas” that Davy Jones made in Laurel Canyon. Originally released in 1991 on cassette tape, the songs have been re-imagined by his family and friends.

Welcome Annabel and thanks for taking time to speak to us today

Please tell us how you became part of this special project, ‘Davy Jones, It’s Christmas Time Once More’?

Thank you for having me! This Christmas album is something we have wanted to reboot for quite some time, Dad loved Christmas. The characters that worked on this album, which began being recording back in the 1970’s if you can believe it. They’re a bunch of legends – Chip Douglas, Micky Dolenz, Henry Diltz – it was a no brainier to make this record.

How did it feel when you were in studio recording your vocals?

Very emotional. Singing is already extremely emotional for me, so in the moment I had to kind of shut my emotions down and take time to reflect on the experience later on. I can say, I did feel very lucky to have the chance to be with my Dad again in some way.

Which song from this collection is most special to you and why?

“White Christmas,” because we sang it together.

Is there a favourite family tradition you might like to share with us?

Christmas breakfast. We grew up on a courtyard with three other houses, we would have the neighbours over and whoever else wanted to join. Whatever raggle-taggle lot turns up for a good, full English! Dress code is PJ’s.
