Hideaway is a beautiful expression of Timoleon’s soulful vision and experiences; listeners are taken on a melancholic journey, through the expanse of warm and deep atmosphere anchored by a highly evocative guitar part. Complimenting the mixed indie/pop instrumentation and production are gripping vocals sung by Tom King, an award winning, breakout songwriter. To begin with, the vocals slowly haunt the tack alongside a guitar, and then, stacked under vast harmonies, they build into a powerful falsetto rendition of the first chorus: “If i’m leaving here tomorrow could you walk me through the shadows”.
Coming from a multi-cultural background, Timoleon’s sound has been influenced from artists such Coldplay, Bon Iver, and Novo Amor. “My inspiration comes mainly from nature, and the poetry I write; lyrical ideas come to me through the connection I have to my surroundings, and the instrumental parts I create are often based upon a certain feeling or experience.”
Hideaway is about feeling belonging: “eyes are closed my heart is yours”, and the longing to feel connection to something or someone. The track was written by Timoleon and Tom King, who met at school. “We recorded the demo at the end of an hour session together, and finished the final recordings during the coronavirus lockdown, I finished all the production and mixing in my bedroom, and the track was mastered by the amazing engineer Tim Biesta (ILIVEHERE, Bitbird).”
Independent artist Timoleon’s unique writing style and production methods have lead him to be noticed and invited to play at a range of events such as a recent virtual festival ‘a special place’, alongside artists such as Sofasound, Hendrik Joerges, and Dust of Apollon. His creative passion is deeply rooted, and his upcoming projects are definitely something to look out for.
