Vederkast releases ‘Yearning’ August 17. In November they release their second album And In The Abyss They Sleep.
Vederkast, a melodic, progressive hard rock band from Norway, is releasing their first single from their sophomore album. Inspired as always by unforgiving, ruthless landscapes of their home in Northern Norway, the band have made yet another uncompromising metal album. ‘Yearning’ is a great example of what to expect! On Friday 17th look for it on your preferred online outlet. Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, you name it!
Non-conforming to the demands of pristine sonic technology, the band ventured to record in the gathering hall of a tiny windswept coastal village in Northern Norway.
All the imperfections and the intrusions of wind and waves are intentionally present in the recordings. A reminder of the tight interaction with the community and the landscape.
The music as always is playful, melodic and raw. It’s creating its own surprising sonic landscapes with unusual rhythmic signatures and heavy guitar riffs.
Established in 2013, Vederkast was formed by musicians formerly known from cool acts like Turdus Musicus, Taliban Airways, Just Did Doris and Rocketboyz. The foursome began writing songs that later would become their debut album. Northern Gothic was released in March 2015, and it was very well received by the critics.
“The Norwegians have set a milestone here with their debut, which can hardly be surpassed.” (Metal Underground Webzine Austria)
“The riffs are heavy, intense and technically at the highest level.” (Earshot Newsletter)
Vederkast has toured Germany, Netherlands and Belgium twice since Northern Gothic saw the light of day – demonstrating their spectacular capabilities as a live band! They have also played numerous dates across Norway, including a handful of festivals.
‘Yearning’ is mixed and mastered by Yngvar Mehus at GRStudios and produced by Yngvar Mehus and Vederkast.
