Robin Pecknold has announced he will be touring with Joanna Newsom in 2016. The Fleet Foxes singer and guitarist made the announcement on his Facebook page. The musician wrote, “I am very excited/honoured to say that I’ll be opening some dates for Joanna Newsom early next year, playing an all-new solo set. I’ll be on both the European and the West Coast legs of her tour, in late winter / early spring.”

Fleet Foxes have been on hiatus for some time with the occasional indication work is afoot on their third studio album. Although Pecknold is still a current member of the band he could be set to follow in the footsteps of other previous Fleet Foxes members such as Joshua Tillman aka Father John Misty, by devoting his time to his solo ventures. Pecknold has previously worked under the name White Antelope, releasing an album ‘False Knight on The Road’ in 2009. He followed this up under his own name with ‘Three Songs’ in 2011.

Seattle-born Pecknold recently shared an experimental cover of doowop classic ‘Out of Sight, Out of Mind’ by The Five Keys on the Fleet Foxes Facebook page which hadn’t been updated for more than a year

Joanna Newsom is returning to the UK in March 2016 to support her album ‘Divers’. Newsom plays Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall on Tuesday 1 March and Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall on Wednesday 2 March. It is not yet known whether Robin Pecknold will provide support for these particular shows.
