Grandaddy have announced via Facebook that they are no longer going ahead with any planned live dates. The band’s bassist, Kevin Garcia, died of a stroke aged 41 at the start of this month and the band have said that their cancellation of all upcoming live shows is in response to this. The band had numerous shows scheduled over the coming month, including appearances at assorted European festivals and headline dates in both the US and EU. You can see the band’s statement via Facebook here.
As a mark of respect to Garcia and Grandaddy, we recently took a second look at two of the band’s best records, ‘The Sophtware Slump’ and ‘Sumday’, which you can read here and here.
