It was today announced that Sir Elton John has been diagnosed with appendicitis and has therefore had to cancel this Fridays Hyde Park concert, and the remainder of his summer tour commitments.
A statement on the artists website stated that he was on a course of “intensive antibiotics” and was expected to undergo surgery “in the coming weeks”. Sir Elton had called in doctors after falling ill during his recent European tour. Following a number of exploratory scans and blood tests with his medical team in the UK, a diagnosis of appendix abscess surrounding retrocaecal appendicitis has been confirmed.
AEG Live and The Royal Parks today also confirmed that the show will go on with the remaining line-up for free and existing ticket holders will receive a full refund. AEG Live also confirmed that existing ticket holders for Friday 12th July will automatically receive a full refund – the full value of their original ticket orders will be credited to the original payment method within 7 working days. By bringing their existing tickets along to Barclaycard presents British Summer Time, Hyde Park on Friday 12th July only, they will be given free access.
