One Eye Jacks share soulful fusion track ‘The Ride’

One Eyed Jacks are 7 musicians who met in the seaside town of Brighton in late 2014. While perfecting their live show around the local circuit, the band released their first single, ‘Fortune Wheel’, OEJ concluded their first year of existence with a sold-out show at local venue Green Door Store. Since then, One Eyed Jacks have had the honour of playing many of southern England’s most prestigious venues, including Concorde 2 and Brighton Dome, Mr Wolf’s (Bristol), Birthdays and Hootananny’s (London), and festivals including Secret Garden Party, Hampton Court Palace and Brighton Pride.

With more than 300 gigs under their belt, they have also developed a following on YouTube through original music videos and their live performance videos with Sofar Sounds, Metway Studios and Eyes and Ears Brighton. Originally drawing from classic funk and soul, the band’s sound has evolved into a catchy blend of RnB, contemporary soul and alt-rock, and they cite The Internet, Anderson .Paak, Jungle, Lenny Kravitz and Prince as some of their influences.

The song is about taking risks with the things you love.

The Ride is the first song of many the band will release after a year of working on their new sound. Putting together the different musical influences from all band members and 4 years of experience playing together as a group, we created a unique mix of soul and pop, combining smooth grooves, vocal harmonies with bass heavy riffs and powerful choruses.
