If you’ve ever had the opportunity to see talented Birmingham singer Vincent Darby perform in the flesh, then you’d understand what I mean when I say he leaves you with the hairs on the back of your neck standing on end. The capability of this young 19 year old future star to produce pure silk with the sound of his vocal cords is extraordinary, leaving any studio savvy.

Vincent has been performing in choirs since he was 5 years old and his talent is extremely intuitive to him. Having stamped his footprint into the infrastructure of Birmingham over the last ten years he also spends a lot of time abroad writing on projects with Toronto based duo Locals Only Sound.

The main single for this debut EP titled ‘Get Away’ features a mid tempo modern RnB beat with a ballad feel production. The melody pulls you in right from the get go and the hooks written throughout are irresistibly well constructed. The chorus harmonies remind you of the kind of record that Quincy jones may have made if he were still making hits today. Tracks on the EP have impressively gained airplay across BBC Radio 1 and featuring as track of the week on 1Xtra.

This EP greatly demonstrates the vocal gymnastics and unbelievable range that Vincent Darby can bring to the table- and not just that, he is fully immersed and integrated into the early construction of the tracks. Vincent will write music in the most natural way, by letting his natural feeling dictate where the music goes. In other words, he doesn’t allow pre-determination to get in the way of how he’s feeling in the moment and this is a key skill for any songwriter in being able to break away from normality and try something different.

We’re keeping a close eye on Vincent Darby and are confident we will see his name in lights in the near future.
