Mysterious Sydney producer upsidedownhead returns with his latest track ‘my cave’. The track is an erratic, pulsing slice of jittery future paranoia. It begins with looping drums that twist around the bent synthesisers, recalling Caribou on quaaludes, as the track spirals in and out of focus.
‘my cave’ is elevated further by Dave Jenkins Jr.’s creeping vocal performance, which is fiendishly sampled by upsidedownhead creating a queasy, nightmarish euphoria. On the track upsidedown says:
“my cave is a commentary on musicians who lock themselves up in caves for hours/days/weeks to craft art that hopefully brings joys to people but in doing so, potentially pushes oneself into isolation”,
It is a great second taste of his upcoming debut EP ‘complex‘, which promises 7 tracks of haunting, noir tinged electronica. We cannot wait for it’s release and the next cut from this intriguing new artist.
