In April, Tori Amos announced her new album ‘Native Invaders’, her 15th album and follow-up to 2014’s ‘Unrepentant Geraldines’, which is set to be released on September 8 via Decca. Now, the singer-songwriter has unveiled a new track titled ‘Cloud Riders’, the lead single off the album.
Amos, drawing inspiration from nature and the spiritual world, has said of the album that “the songs on ‘Native Invader’ are being pushed by the Muses to find different ways of facing unforeseen challenges and in some cases dangerous conflicts.”
She explains in a statement about the new song (via NPR): “Before the Storm, at 4:22 a.m., I saw a shooting star. Some Storms are electrifying but some Storms are deadly. Life changing. Some resolve themselves, some don’t. Conflicts can be that way. You don’t know how a conflict is going to play out when you are in the middle of it.” She continues: “And the one thing I have learned is that when Cloud Riders are coming, they cannot be outrun.”
Tori Amos will tour Europe and North America in support of the album later this year, starting in September.
