tiny deaths is the American dream-pop project consisting of vocalist Claire de Lune and producer Grant in 2017 which caught the attention of numerous press outlets including The Guardian, Stereogum and Earmilk. The follow-up LP, Magic was released in the fall of 2019 via Handwritten Records to more critical acclaim.
Cutler and de Lune’s styles are like yin and yang: Cutler coming from a background in heavily experimental electronica and ambient music, mixed media art installations and de Lune’s resume filled with RnB. Together, Cutler’s booming bass and de Lune’s rich, soulful vocals unite to form a wholly alive and fresh take on a moody, dreamy, sound.
the magic acoustic sessions EP is a stripped down solo version of three songs from the studio album with de Lune on vocals and guitar.
The lead track magic, de Lune states, “is about Gen Z and how amazing they are and how, even though the world is chaotic and awful right now, it is theirs, and it is in good hands. This is a youth anthem for scary times and to let them know we see them, hear them and believe in them.”
tiny deaths is currently preparing for a fall tour that will be focused around the UK and Europe leading off with the SWN Festival in Wales and wrapping up with three nights supporting Pale Honey in Germany on October 27, 28 and 30th. The ‘magic acoustic sessions’ will be released on 28th of June via Handwritten Records.
Speaking on the release, Claire states:
“This was the title track off our last album, Magic. We decided to release an EP of stripped down versions of some of the songs with just myself singing and playing them on guitar. Magic is the most special to me of any song I’ve written. It is about Gen Z and how amazing they are and how even though the world is chaotic and awful right now, it’s THEIRS. And it’s in good hands. I wanted to write a youth anthem for scary times, and tell them I see them and I hear them and I believe in them.”
