Following the sixth instalment, ‘Aftershock’ (via Kitsuné), of the #12SongsOfSummer project – releasing one song per month through 2018 – for the first time in his current discography, Summer Heart invites an alternate vocalist to take the reins.

On ‘Subside’, Torontonian K¥LO’s reverb-fuelled tones are driven by the Summer Heart-propelled production into twilit, barmy nights. One struggles to avoid clichés when describing the mix; shooting-star synth parts cut through space created by the equally sharp, yet ethereal, tones of the Canadian vocalist, however, the finished product finds its own pedestal between groove-tinged alt pop, with a humid production style akin to Washed Out’s.
