Siv Jakobsen shares a rather striking video for her single, ‘Shallow Digger’, directed by her long-term visual collaborator, Jørgen Nordby. Jakobsen’s unwavering onscreen stare in the video heightens the impact of the cutting lyrics she delivers in the song.
‘Shallow Digger’ is the latest single to be taken from the Norwegian artist’s debut album, ‘The Nordic Mellow’ out 25th August, 2017. With its folky guitars and heavy drums, the song brings some much needed winter chill to the current warm days of July. With her siren-like voice and powerful yet lyrics, Jakobsen weaves an ethereal tale of empowerment.

‘Shallow Digger’s predecessor, ‘Like I Used To’ was released earlier this year. It features guest vocals from Andrew Davie of Bear’s Den and offers a taster of the striking intimacy to be found on ‘The Nordic Mellow’. Where as ‘Shallow Digger’ showcases the other end of Jakobsen’s sonic spectrum, brooding and raw, it is intense in its delivery.
Born and raised in Asker, just outside of Oslo, Jakobsen went on to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, but has long felt at home within British borders, even recording her debut record in London.
Produced by Matt Ingram (Laura Marling), “a magical fit” according to Jakobsen, and mixed by Dan Cox (Thurston Moore, Lianne La Havas) at Urchin Studios in London, ‘The Nordic Mellow’ offers a sonic warmth disparate to the sub-zero climate of Jakobsen’s Oslo home.
Jakobsen witll return to UK shores for a unique tour in October with fellow singer-songwriters Fenne Lily, Paul Thomas Saunders, and Sivu.
