School of X has recently released the new song ‘Write My Name’ from his upcoming EP Destiny (out Nov 15, 2019 via Tambourhinoceros). The song sees a shift in gear compared to the latest tracks from School of X while its lyrics deal with acceptance and moving on in life.
Last month, School of X dropped the title song from his upcoming EP ‘Destiny‘ – a song that intimately unfolded a life choice that we all can experience; ending a relationship and the reflections on pros and cons that follow.
On the new single “Write My Name”, School of X aka Rasmus Littauer’s skills as an multi-instrumentalist are apparent in his impeccable vocals, the beautiful bass lines and, as always, solid and playful drumming flanked by evocative synth surfaces – all performed by Rasmus Littauer.
Rasmus Littauer said about the song:
‘Write My Name’ is about being abandoned and over time realising and accepting why you have to move on. The song has been almost impossible for me to finish, but it landed in a good place in the end. The musical turning point was the collaboration with Rune Risager, who played the guitars on the recording. He brought a freshness that I couldn’t find myself.
School of X’s upcoming EP is due for release on November 15, 2019. The lyrics are deeply personal and the production is vivid and intimate. It is a record that greatly emphasises Rasmus Littauer’s urge to constantly explore new ground in his music. The arrangement of each song is carefully pieced together ultimately resulting in an expression that’s minimalistic and yet playful at the same time.
