The Lucid Dream have shared a trippy new single from their forthcoming third album, ‘Compulsion Songs’.

With a running length of more than eight minutes, ‘I’m A Star In My Own Right’, is a soundscape of dubstep, groovy bass-lines and Stone Roses-style vocals which shows a bold and confident approach to modern songwriting.

Talking of the new single, I’m A Star In My Own Right, vocalist and guitarist Mark Emmerson said: ”’I’m A Star In My Own Right’ is the last track I penned for the new album, and also the last track we recorded and mixed on the album too. It was massively inspired by the work of the genius Adrian Sherwood, his On-U Sound label and in particular the first couple of Singers and Players albums.”

Releasing an eight minute single in today’s market of short, fast moving singles is a bold move. It paves the way for what should be an exciting album which, if ‘I’m A Star In My Own Right’ is anything to go by, promises to be a psychedelic blend of reverberating guitars, trippy keyboards and hypnotic beats.

‘Compulsion Songs’ is released on the 23rd September via Holy Are You Recordings. The Lucid Dream will also be touring on the following dates:
