When was the last time you celebrated the women who raised you? Listening to the new single “Liberian Boy” by LA-based fashion designer, visual artist, and musician TAKI will make you reminisce on those younger days and honor the fellow Girl Gods in your life.
A song about humble beginnings and appreciation, TAKI’s first single of 2020, “Liberian Boy”, paints glimpses of the artist’s journey from his home country to Los Angeles where he lives today.
With his smooth voice and the incorporations of traditional African vocals, drums, and piano, TAKI turns the sounds of war, that he was once afraid of, into melodic rhythms and dance. The song was recently released on May 15th in anticipation of TAKI’s debut self-produced album, Girl God, which is set to release everywhere on July 24, 2020.
TAKI’s new single, “Liberian Boy”, is available now on all other streaming platforms.
More about TAKI GOLD
Liberian-born, LA-based fashion designer, visual artist, and musician TAKI GOLD uses his art, fashion, and music for one purpose: to honor all women. Growing up in the west African country of Liberia in the 90s, TAKI’s life would have taken a terrible turn had he not been under the care of a small group of women.
After being reunited with his parents and siblings in the US, TAKI took those lessons and taught himself how to compose music, studying poetry in college and writing lyrics as poems. Showcasing a unique sound, TAKI uses drums, organs, traditional African vocals and a variety of acoustic and electronic instruments to create each individual track.
The songs that resulted now make up his debut album, Girl God, which became his homage to all women.
