Martina Petric’s ‘Violent’ is a joy of femininity

The dreamlike new single ‘Violent’ from alt-pop pioneer Martina Petric is an expression of controversy in the most serene way. Delicately driving electric guitar is partnered with soft, steady beats and Martina’s breathy yet powerful voice. The music video, too, subtly liberates femininity from intolerant conventions. With this captivating release, Martina’s intention was to take us to a place of freedom, explaining that “Violent is an invitation to live and feel intensely as we’re told we shouldn’t do.”

Based in Chile, Martina is a singer-songwriter and producer who has received critical acclaim for her debut album ‘VELVET’, released in 2018. That same year, she won the Revelation Artist category at The Indigo Awards, and was nominated for the same category at The Pulsar Awards in 2019. Martina’s sound and message resonates universally, and will be wide-reaching not just because she sings in English, but because of her hypnotising talent.
