The playful video, filmed in one extended take, features Rogers (initially dressed like Las Vegas-era Elvis) singing and dancing and generally having a ball around a mostly empty soundstage. She is occasionally joined by a trio of dancers in what sometimes resembles an indie homage to ‘Single Ladies.’
The music industry sees a lot of “next big things” in the span of a year (or a week) but there is something undeniably special about Rogers. After her auspicious breakthrough last year in the form of acclaimed single ‘Alaska,’ which was presented in an early form to a visibly moved Pharrell in a New York University masterclass, she has kept the goods coming and is about to embark on her first headlining tour. Keep an eye on this one and look for ‘Now That the Light is Fading’ on February 17.
