Since dropping his debut release in late 2018, fast-rising UK RnB singer-songwriter Link Lewis has been picking up acclaim everywhere he goes. With big support from Spotify editors, his track Am I In rocketed into hundreds of thousands of streams, blog buzz for his single Foundation was widespread and BBC Introducing invited him in for a live session after hearing just one song. His new single Beat Down arrives today on all streaming platforms.
“Beat Downis definitely my proudest release to date,” explains the soulful pop artist and multi-instrumentalist. “I’ve been lucky enough to work with Nick Keliris, a hugely talented producer and friend of mine. We both thought a classic Timberland style beat would be the perfect fit and I really think we’ve caught a vibe with this one. Mental health in my generation is becoming more and more fragile – social media has subconsciously put huge pressure on people to be successful and happy when we all know in real life, it’s not that simple. We only ever seem to filter our ‘best life’ into our social media platforms. You could look at my Instagram page and assume I’m a happy and successful musician because that’s all I want you to see, but the truth is I face struggles on a day-to-day basis in an ever-changing music industry. I wanted to write something real and from the heart, so I hope people can relate to this one.”
Taking inspiration from all branches of the tree, the Link Lewis sound blends the buttery tones of jazzy RnB with the slick hooks and pounding grooves of hip-hop and modern pop. With a wealth of experience both writing and producing music in multiple genres, he’s releasing a string of new singles throughout 2019.
