Belgian rapper Hamza is proud to release his debut album Paradise today, March 1st, via Just Woke Up/ Rec. 118 / Warner France. Breaking barriers, his melodic and effortlessly smooth French flow are on full display, proving his prowess transcends language. The album is fresh and innovative, led by Hamza’s glossy bars over lush trap beats. Upon release in France, ‘Hamza’ and ‘Paradise’ immediately shot to #1and #2 on France’s Twitter Trending Topics respectively and is currently the #1 album on iTunes / Apple Music.
Paradise features some of France’s biggest stars – Christine and the Queens, Aya Nakamura, SCH, and Oxmo Puccino. Each artist brings an expert perspective, perfectly complementing Hamza’s mix of cerebral, trap beats and minimal dance bangers.
Hamza returned in January to share the title track and music video for ‘Paradise’ and again in February with ‘HS (feat. SCH).’ Both music videos directed by Jean-Charles Charavin, the two singles gave fans a taste of what Hamza had been working on since his Gold-certified mixtape 1994. Both singles exploded, with ‘HS (feat. SCH)’ garnering over 2M YouTube views in just one week.
Over the last 5 years, the melodic rapper-singer has been able to carve his own path as the missing linkbetween the Atlanta, Toronto and Brussels scenes. With notice from Drake‘s partner & OVO-founder Oliver El-Khatib (on his OVO sound Beats 1 show) and championed by specialized media (Pitchfork, Vice, Colors, Highsnobiety, Clique, etc), Hamza has been hailed as the “Belgian answer toYoung Thug.”
