American Football have released a new music video. The emo stalwarts debuted the clip for their 2016 track ‘Home is Where the Haunt is” on Wednesday July 12th. The single is the third to be taken from 2016’s American Football-the follow-up to their 1999 debut of the same name.
The video sees the band playing a game of basketball, while a small group of supporting characters go about their daily lives; their passion for their dreams fading over time. The video is fitting for the track, and the theme of the overall album, as American Football come to terms with the everyday realities of adulthood.
American Football are highly regarded within the emo scene; the brevity of their initial career, and the ambition of their 1999 debut ensured a cult-following among indie-rock aficionados. Their influence can be heard throughout the emo scene, no more so than in the releases of emo revival bands, who have taken their brand of emotional indie-rock, and made it their own.
Since reuniting in 2015, the band has released one record. Their second self-titled album saw them pick up where they left off-producing intricate, heartfelt music.
American Football will return to the UK and Ireland in September.
