Australian solo outfit Fractures has announced the release of a new self-titled EP on July 7, 2014, alongside a new single ‘Won’t Win’ (out now).
‘Won’t Win’ is the lead track on the upcoming ‘Fractures EP’ (out in July) from Melbourne-based producer and multi-instrument whizz Mark Zito, aka Fractures. Previous singles Twisted and Cadence went top 5 on Hype Machine, drawing praise from Chet Faker and Gotye along the way, with The Guardian also tipping the latter as ‘a downtempo electronic burner, bringing to mind Jamie Woon and James Blake’. Both tracks are now well in excess of half a million plays on Soundcloud
This new EP has arrived somewhat against the odds, as Fractures was forced on indefinite hiatus late last year, when- in the cruellest case of life imitating art- Zito suffered a near fatal fall. The accident left him with a fractured neck, needing to spent 3 months confined to an orthotic halo in hospital, during which he wrote material for this EP.
Happily, Zito’s complete recovery from his injuries now signals a soon-to-be-announced run of live shows from Fractures through 2014, which will see Zito (replete with 5 piece band) lifting the new EP up & out of the studio, translating his crisp productions with the luxurious depth and resonance so evident across Fractures.
