After spending the past week teasing fans, Fall Out Boy have finally announced their new album “M A N I A” will be released 15th September.
The band also revealed the album’s first single and accompanying video on Vevo. The track, “Young and Menace” has a heavy chorus with highly auto-tuned, EDM-like vocals over the top. If they dabbled in electro-tinged rock on the last album, it seems like they’ll be fully embracing it on this one.
Bassist Pete Wentz had made it clear throughout the past week that the colour purple was a key aspect of the news, and the “M A N I A” cover is indeed very purple. It also features those neon lights that every band seems crazy about right now.

Last Saturday, a mysterious trailer for the album was shown in Chicago cinemas, featuring footage of purple waves and a date. Originally scheduled to be announced tomorrow, Wentz tweeted the announcement would be moved up to today to coincide with vocalist Patrick Stump’s birthday.
A US tour has been announced for October and November, and those who pre-order the album this weekend will receive a pre-sale code for the tour. $1 from every ticket purchase will go to the Fall Out Boy Fund, supporting various Chicago-based charities.
M A N I A will be released 15th September through Virgin EMI UK/DCD2.
