Duke and the Dry Cleaners emerged onto the scene in 2017, injecting a burst of kinetic Acid Jazz into our ears that we didn’t know we were missing. This London based group, formed organically out of a studio project, is spearheaded by Oli Duke: lead vocalist, songwriter, producer and keys player. The band’s latest single ‘I Want To’ is an infectious groove, fusing together elements of Funk, Disco, Soul and Jazz into a feel-good track. Unlike anything that’s already out there, Duke and the Dry Cleaners have finessed a sound that is sure to uplift spirits when played live.
Speaking of the band’s new single, frontman Oli Duke said: “Every time we ended a session on this track, whoever was involved would be humming that hook line over and over, and dancing along. I think that’s the point of most of my music to be honest, to share my experiences of being human but to frame them in a way that the music can pick you up, whatever is going on in your life. Even if it’s a difficult time, there is always room to have a little dance and feel better about things. That sentiment definitely comes into play with this track.”
This track was crafted by Oli Duke and the band’s five other talented musicians, alongside co-producer Arjun Doell. ‘I Want To’ represents the band’s scope not only to get people dancing at their shows, but also to carve out their place in the Acid Jazz scene.
