Diego Philips creates music from the soul

Last month, Belgium bred indie artist Diego Philips released Tides, his first album of 2020. Today, Diego has released a single off the record, “Smile”, a beautifully crafted narrative of love and intimacy.

‘Smile’ draws from personal experience and growth, and is about “the first feelings of love after meeting someone new…those light and easy feelings that overwhelm you”, Diego explains. The track is filled with hazy guitar patterns and thoughtfully layered vocal melodies as a soundscape for the candidly written lyrics and verses.

Diego moved to London in 2015 to complete a music performance degree and pursue a career as a musician. It was there he found his band, the Pretty Boys, and things finally started coming together musically. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Damien Rice, Ben Howard, and Michael Kiwanuka, Diego and his six-piece act began creating music reminiscing on the things he has observed around the world to create his rich soundscapes.

A special and striking young talent, Diego Philips is an artist who is experimenting with their sound to create a rich artistic canvas.
