Declan McKenna’s newest single ‘The Kids Don’t Wanna Come Home’ now comes with a music video which begins with young people talking about issues within society. It sets up the mood of the song well, as Declan later sings “you told your kids that they’d live long forever, but the kids don’t wanna come home again“.

The track follows in the vein of his previous tracks, with lyrics about big topics over catchy indie guitars and some synth pads. The single is the second released from his upcoming album, and displays a slightly different style to his music than previous track ‘Isombard’, which uses a synth line as the focal point.

The song ends with Declan stating that “if me and my friends were in charge of the world, I think we’d just kind of make it illegal to be an asshole”, which is something we’d definitely be up for.
