New York City native Dante Mazzetti took his first steps back into music with the release of his July record Hotel Vol. 1. The EP introduced 4 parts to an integral story of one man’s journey to a new life and Mazzetti’s cinematic lyricism made this tale addictive. For the artist, a piece of music is a living organism, always evolving, improving, finding new creative avenues to explore, and for Mazzetti, the EP was only the beginning of this evolution. Now he concludes the story with his latest release Hotel Vol. 2.
Keeping with the themes and story-telling from his July EP, Hotel Vol. 2 continues the tale of a troubled man finding a new life and new challenges. Through 4 new original tracks, Dante Mazzetti tackles a darker tone, infusing his sound with somber vocals and bluesy undertones. The EP premiered exclusively with Americana Highway on November 21st and was praised for its “…perfect blend of rock and funky, heartfelt innovation and empathetic tales.”
In September, Mazzetti began teasing the new EP with his single “Ugly”. A combination of jazz, blues, and a slight Latin flair, “Ugly” conveys a story of an unpleasant encounter. The single was an exciting break away from the first EP. But his track “Breaking in the Sun” truly encompasses the nearly heartbreaking revelation to the story of this character Mazzetti has created. It also diversifies the tones of both records – Vol. 1 being hopeful and upbeat, while Vol. 2 dives into darker truths.
With Hotel Vol. 2, audiences certainly connect with the diversity in sound. Yet, it is the incredible story-telling capabilities that Dante Mazzetti has continually shown that prove his longevity as an artist.
