Chorley-based six piece ‘Then Thickens’ have announced that their new single ‘Worms’ – is out now on Hatch Records and comes with an exclusive b-side, a re-recorded version of fan favourite ‘Blood In the River Ribble’.
‘Worms’ comes with a squirm-inducing and incredibly literal video (see above) that is probably not best watched as an accompaniment to your lunch or dinner break, as it features a writhing mass of maggots.
Previous single ‘Tiny Legs’ recently received the GIGsoup Track of the Day, with the video featuring Joe Gilgun, star of Shane Meadows’ film This Is England. The band have also been championed heavily by BBCR1’s Ally McCrae, Amazing Radio and Kerrang! Radio, while Steve Lamacq and fellow BBC 6 Music DJs Jarvis Cocker, Gideon Coe and Huw Stephens have also given a thumbs up.
Following support early slots with Biffy Clyro (whose Simon Neil recently praised the band’s “Dirge-y pop music” in NME) and Mariachi El Bronx, ‘Then Thickens’ will be announcing further tour dates and festival appearances in the near future
