Bill MacKay shares new cut from upcoming album

For a long time now, we’ve been big fans of Bill MacKay here at GIGsoup. Between his 2017 solo effort ‘Esker’ (reviewed here) and his equally excellent collaboration with Ryley Walker from the same year (also reviewed here) he’s produced plenty of interesting, textural work for fingerstyle guitar fans to dig into in recent years. His upcoming solo long player ‘Fountain Fire’ drops later this month and a third taster of the new album has been released in the form of ‘Welcome’.

There’s a real sense of mellow momentum across the track’s four minute runtime; eager acoustic rhythm guitar guides reverbarative electric guitar through a piece that’s as melodically winning as it is quietly engaging. It’s a real winner and promises ‘Fountain Fire’ to be another charmingly understated yet powerful listen. Have a listen below and, while you’re at it, check out our 2017 interview with MacKay.
