‘Stops My Mouth’ is the beautifully simplistic second single from rising stars Bat and Balland is confirmation, if it were required, that this is very much a band on the up-and-up.
The single will be a joint release through the band’s own label ‘Hospital Samples’ and DJ Jen Long’s ‘Kissability’ label out today (28th April 2014). An exclusive limited edition cassette will also be available through ‘Kissability’. Jen has been a supporter of Bat and Ball from the off and the band will play her night at this year’s ‘The Great Escape Festival‘.
Originally from the West Country, Chris and Abi Sinclair were writing and performing in various bands from their early teens, though never together until they moved to London to study at Goldsmiths College and decided to work together artistically. In 2012 they recruited fellow Goldsmithers, Ed Burton (drums), Jamie Coe (guitar) and Harri Chambers (keyboards), and began their musical incarnation as Bat and Ball.
The autumn 2013 release of their debut EP ‘We Prefer It In The Dark’ received rave reviews in the press with The Guardian, The Independent, NME, The Line Of Best Fit, Clash, and Notion magazine amongst the music press lining up to heap praise on the band. With radio play from Huw Stephens and Jen Long & Ally McCrae at Radio 1, and John Kennedy at XFM, the band finished 2013 as one of the hottest new acts in the UK.
At the start of this year Bat and Ball performed at Koko’s in London as part of the BBC Introducing/Club NME series and the band will continue to play shows and festival dates (including The Great Escape and Live at Leeds) throughout the summer…
