Ashley Levin is an R&B, pop singer-songwriter who moved to Los Angeles from Miami, FL for her music career. Ashley has continued to perform and write with countless big names in the music industry, including Vince Gil, Bonnie Bramlett, Brent Mason, David Kent, Paul Franklin, Charlie McCoy, Esperanza Spalding, Gretchen Parlato, Chick Corea, and many more. She is currently playing showcases around the LA area, promoting her original music, and working as a session singer for TV & movies.
Just Say Goodnight is a climbing ballad opening with just piano and vocals. Soft and soothing, Ashley Levin’s vocal glows amongst the sparse instrumentation and illustrates her abilities as both a performer and a writer. A departure from her 2019 track If, this track still retains Ashley’s undoubtable commercial sound whilst showcasing her abilities with its stripped back production.
Discussing the release, Ashley says:
The story behind this song was actually my producer’s… and his last relationship. However, it also rang true to me from the angle of my grandfather after my grandmother’s recent passing. I just love the honesty and beauty in this song, and the realness of just wanting to “go to sleep” and “just say goodnight” to drift off to a place where you and your ex/lost loved one, are still together. Because it really is easier to just go to sleep and pretend, than to be awake and deal with the reality of being alone.
