Earlier this year Dave Mustaine of Megadeth was diagnosed with throat cancer and had to cancel all of the concerts that had been planned, with the exception of Megadeth’s own cruise tour – MegaCruise.
In a post on Facebook Mustaine has updated fans about both his cancer treatment and what is happening with the cruise the band are slated to preform as part of.
Regarding his battle with cancer Mustaine seems to be very upbeat right now.
“I wanted to take a moment to give you all an update on the current status of my health. I’m almost through the last round of treatment and my doctors are feeling very positive regarding my progress,” he said.
He added that, “over the next few weeks my condition will be evaluated, and I will keep you posted on my progress as we get closer to the sailing date of the first Megacruise!”
He also took the opportunity to thank fans for their well wishes.
“I want to thank all of you for the support and well wishes these last few months. I can’t express enough gratitude as it has made this hard road easier knowing you are in my corner fighting with me!”
He also provided a update about Megadeth’s performance as part of MegaCruise and it appears that they will indeed take the stage.
“We can’t wait to see you, and I know all of the other wonderful artists feel the same way. Let’s make this event one for the record books. Less than 30 days till we are Thrashing through the Pacific!”
So it doesn’t seem that even throat cancer is going to stop Mustaine from preforming as part of his band’s cruise.
The full Facebook post from Megadeth’s page can be seen below.
Other bands set to preform as part of the cruise include Lamb of God, Anthrax, Testament, Queensryche and many more.
You can see the poster below for the full list of bands.
There are still a few cabins are still available at MegaCruise.com for anyone who wants to go.
MegaCruise sets sail on Oct. 13 and will be at sea until Oct. 18.
