Earlier this year Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine was diagnosed with throat cancer, forcing the band to cancel all of their shows for this year with the exception of one: MegaCruise.
Currently Megadeth are still slated to appear on their own cruise open to fans, despite the cancer diagnoses of the bands most recognizable member
As part of Mustaine’s cancer announcement he said the band will be part of MegaCruise “in some form” meaning it is possible that the rest of the band will perform with a guest singer and guitarist to replace Mustaine, but there has been no specific news to ruling Mustaine himself out as the who will fronting the band at this point.
But it seems that perhaps some planning is going into what to do if the band need to pull the plug on their own performance.
Which may explain why veterans Lamb of God have been added to the bill at a place of prominence on the poster.
Lamb of God and Megadeth share a little bit of history together. Former Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler played on Megadeth’s 2016 album Dystopia.
Currently Lamb of God are fresh coming off supporting a leg of Slayer’s farewell tour and will be playing a couple of festivals before MegaCruise.
This includes Aftershock in Sacramento, California, on October 11th, and Exit 111 in Manchester, Tennessee, on October 13th.
Regardless of whether or not all the members of Megadeth participate MegaCruise will be leaving port from Los Angeles, California, on October 13th, and will be making various stops during its voyage.
It should be noted that as previously stated Lamb of God are scheduled to perform at the Exit 111 festival in Manchester, Tennessee, on October 13th, and will probably then be boarding the cruise when it docks in San Diego on October 14.
