Mary Eckert debuts with ‘Do You Even Feel’

Mary Eckert is singer-songwriter from North London. Spending much of her adolescence exploring sounds from across her colourful musical spectrum, now at a humble 19 years of age, she has found her voice, pouring her life experiences harmoniously into the sweet spot between indie-folk and modern soul.

Her music addresses young love, life and everything in between, balancing her vulnerable storytelling with a battle-hardened maturity beyond her years. Citing such current influences as Isaac Waddington, Ady Suleiman and Elli Ingram, combined with the artistry of her debut, it’s clear that Mary is writing music from her soul, achieving a sound that’s both trendless and timeless.

A transcendent debut, Do You Even Feel (written alongside Laura Kindelan and Gemma Louise Stanford, produced by Aaron Thompson) introduces us to her sound with just her honeyed vocal and a guitar. As the instrumentation builds, the emotion in her voice follows suit as she takes you on a journey through various musical shades of her palette and makes her voice heard with remarkable finesse.

Speaking to the motivation behind Do You Even Feel, Mary shares:
Do You Even Feel is about reminiscing an ex and the experiences shared with them. The idea of singing about unrequited feelings occurred when I bumped into someone I was seeing at the time with someone else. The next week I had a songwriting session with some course mates and Do You Even Feel was written. This song really made the situation rather comical for me, however, it is sung with some bitterness.
