Mark Lanegan and dark wave band IYEARA have combined to release a haunting take on his moving track Playing Nero.
A reworking of the album Somebody’s Knocking, IYEARA have reconstructed the entire album, reimagined and retitled as ‘Another Knock At The Door’ (IYEARA remixes). Adding a brooding, industrial edge to a beautiful, wistful original score, Playing Nero finds IYEARA offering their own cerebral take on the works of a unique, enduring talent.
Comprised of The Duke Spirit guitarist Toby Butler, producer Malcolm Carson and vocalist Paul O’Keeffe, IYEARA announced themselves in 2019 through the release of CONSEQUENCES EP; a record including a cover of Shout by Tears for Fears featuring The Duke Spirit’s Liela Moss. The group have remixed the likes of Laura Marling’s LUMP project, UNKLE, Humanist ft Dave Gahan, The Prodigy, The Boxer Rebellion, Simon Raymonde’s Lost Horizons, Paris Youth Foundation, The Ting Tings, JoyCut and Lusts.
Playing Nero is out now. The track is taken from Mark Lanegan Band – Another Knock At The Door (IYEARA remixes), which is due for release on 21st August 2020 and available to pre-order here.
