An obsession with the 80’s and praise from legend of the era, Boy George, who called the bands work “A musical orgasm”, Empathy Test have a very distinctive vibe and sound to match. Pipped by Metro as a band that you’ll love if you like the Stranger Things soundtrack, the synth work on their new material is something to behold, warn, analogue, a dream for those with a fetish for Moogs and chorus drenched square waves.
Monsters is the new single from synth pop magicians, and is described by the band as, “an ode to anxiety”. Liberal doses of dark electronic atmospherics, thunderous percussion and an emotive lead vocal create a gigantic, reverby, Bat For lashes-esque soundscape. Somewhat new-wave while also having an entirely current edge to it, this first look at the new album is very promising and very exciting for fans of the band who have a little wait for some 3 years for a new full release.
